TIRANA, July 19 – “Albania is experiencing a re-energization of the integration process and a new attention of European institutions, accompanied by obvious achievements, which are tangible for everyone,” said the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka at the meeting of the National Council of European Integration held in Tirana on Wednesday.
In her speech, Xhaçka welcomed the commitment of the EU with a new approach to the Western Balkans and the advancement towards EU membership.
“Albania’s one-year progress, since the opening of negotiations for EU membership, is more than satisfactory. The screening process is continuing and we have received positive evaluations for the preparation and commitment of our delegations to undertake the obligations set by the negotiation process,” said Xhaçka.
The Minister said that, “we are waiting for the holding of the next intergovernmental conference for the opening of the grouping of the basic chapters of the negotiation, after the approval by the Council of the Screening Report of the Commission with the aim that this will happen by the end of this year.” /argumentum.al
