TIRANA, July 25 – Tuesday, the last day of the heat wave that gripped Albania for more than two weeks, recorded the highest temperature of this summer so far. The thermometer went up to 43.6 degrees Celsius in Elbasan and 43.4 in Berat.
These are the official data of MeteoAlb as quoted by TV Klan on Tuesday.
“Today marked the 17th day of the heat wave which has brought extremely high temperatures,” said forecaster Hakil Osmani.
But this ‘wave of hell’ seems to end on Wednesday, as according to meteorologists the temperatures will drop significantly. A cold air mass comes from the north towards the Mediterranean basin.
“We will have a change in the thermal picture and this comes as a result of a cold air mass from the north of the European continent, it is coming down towards the Mediterranean basin bringing an immediate change in temperatures by at least 7 or 8 degrees Celsius,” said Osmani.
In the last days of July and the first 10 days of August, Albania will experience mostly typical temperatures of the season.
“We will also have days when temperatures will be recorded at 38 degrees Celsius. As it has happened in many years, the month of August has brought several short episodes which have brought rain showers, sometimes in the form of hail, but there are strong signals of strengthened wind parameters,” said the forecaster.
During this week, the problem will be the wind that will also endanger the spread of the fires in Fier and Vlora, southern Albania. /argumentum.al
