TIRANA, July 28 – A faction of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party (DP) has declared that the decision to cancel the elections of July 29 for the new chairman of the DP is a binding decision for every member of the party and every official.
“Yesterday, the National Council of the Democratic Party, the highest decision-making body in the Democratic Party, decided to cancel the date of July 29 for the chairmanship elections of the Democratic Party. This decision is binding for every member of the DP and for every official,” the statement said.
Further the statement of the parliamentary group said that the anti-statutory processes are an act of shame to harm the Democratic Party.
“But tomorrow (former chairman) Lulzim Basha has announced a divisive act of the Democratic Party. The interest of the democrats is the fight of all against (PM) Edi Rama. Lulzim Basha’s interest seems to be division, fight and enmity between the democrats and the establishment of a personal party, which only serves his personal interest,” said the statement.
According to the statement, clearly what Lulzim Basha is doing has nothing to do with the Democratic Party. “The National Council of DP in office, functional, registered in court and with a mandate that ends on July 17, 2025, decided to cancel the elections with the decision of July 27, 2023.”
In conclusion, the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party said that the anti-statutory processes are nothing else, just an act of shame to damage the DP, to keep alive the divisions between the Democrats and to defocus the DP from the battle with Edi Rama’s regime. /argumentum.al
