TIRANA, August 9 – The Director of the Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program in the Diplomatic Security Service of the State Department (ATA), Timothy Leeds and the program manager, James Doherty, have visited Albania these days and held meetings with officials at the Embassy of USA and the State Police, the US Embassy in Tirana announced on Wednesday.
Since 2016, the Diplomatic Security Service Assistance (DSA) program through the Embassy’s Regional Security Office has donated millions of dollars in equipment and provided extensive training to Albania’s State Police to improve their anti-terrorism capabilities, cybercrime and digital forensics.
Accompanied by the Embassy’s new Regional Security Officer, Kathryn Hammond, Leeds and Doherty met with State Police Director Muhamet Rrumbullaku and discussed ways ATA can continue to support law enforcement in Albania.
US officials also made an additional donation of equipment to the State Police.
During their visit, ATA officials met with the Director of Counter Terrorism, Alban Dautaj, and they visited the unit’s offices and discussed how previous training courses have benefited counter-terrorism operations in Albania.
The visit proved the strong cooperation between the Regional Security Office of the American Embassy and the State Police, said the above announcement. /argumentum.al
