TIRANA, August 9 – The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, appreciated the letter that dozens of Euro-Western legislators sent to high officials of the United States and the European Union for changing the approach to Kosovo and Serbia. Prime Minister Kurti underlined the fact that the letter calls for a stricter approach towards Serbia.
“This kind of support strengthens our commitment to complete de-escalation of the situation in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, the commitment to democracy, and the belief in legality and constitutionality,” said Prime Minister Kurti quoted by VOA on Wednesday.
The letter signed by ten chairmen of the commissions for foreign relations and 56 deputies calls for preventive diplomacy, balance and non-repetition of past mistakes, while emphasizing the lack of pressure on Serbia after the tensions in the north of Kosovo.
The expert on the political affairs in Kosovo, Rrahman Paçarizi said in a conversation with the Voice of America that the lack of coordination with the Western allies has led Kosovo to being identified as a destructive party.
Paçarizi said that Kosovo has now started a kind of coordination with the international community, but it should deepen it even more.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Tuesday evening in an interview in Belgrade that the letter of the European and American legislators is not directed against him but against Serbia. /argumentum.al
