TIRANA, August 18 – The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has said that the number of Serbs who have resigned from the Kosovo Police (KP) in the north has reached seven. On Thursday, it was first reported that three Serbian members of KP had resigned from that institution.
In a press conference on Friday after the visit to the city of Klina, Osmani said that the culprit for these resignations is in Belgrade.
“There is already confirmed information, according to the investigations of our institutions during these weeks, that the intimidation and blackmail of the Serb members of the police force come directly from Serbia. They have their source in Serbia, this state which unfortunately continues with open aggression in relation to Kosovo is continuing to put pressure on Serbian citizens, who are pro-integration, through its own illegal and criminal institutions in Kosovo” she said.
Osmani called on the European Union to punish the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vučić, for, as she said, the violation of the Brussels Agreements.
Among other things, Osmani has said that in private conversations with international officials, they admit that the pressure on Serbian policemen in Kosovo comes from Serbia and its structures.
International diplomats representing their countries in Kosovo also commented on the resignation of Serbian policemen on August 17. However, neither the American Embassy in Pristina nor the European Union Rule of Law Mission have mentioned the reasons that resulted in resignations. /argumentum.al
