TIRANA, August 19 – The original sterilization concession contract has disappeared and is not even found in the archives of the Ministry of Health, according to the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
It is expected that this scandal will further expand the investigations into the affair of the sterilization concession. So far, 8 officials and businessmen have been officially charged by SPAK for criminal offenses of corruption, forgery and fraud among whom is a former deputy health minister.
SPAK had earlier made the decision to seize the complete original documentary practice of the sterilization concession procedure, but they found themselves in front of an unexpected situation.
“In implementation of this decision, judicial police officers have seized the concession file from the Ministry of Health. It should also be noted that despite all the research in the institution and the archive of the Ministry of Health, the officials of this institution did not find and did not make available the original concession contract or the relevant annexes,” it is reported.
Those who were involved in this concession are accused of corruption, forgery and fraud, and the economic damage is estimated at 76 million euros to date. The former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj is behind bars and 6 officials of the Ministry of Health are set under ‘house arrest’. /argumentum.al
