TIRANA, August 30 – Responding to the media’s interest in the opposition’s accusations of leaking information through the TIMS system, Interior Minister Taulant Balla replied that the accusations were made by people removed from the state police, while underlining that digital security has increased to prevent cyber attacks.
Balla said that there is no information about a problem with the TIMS system at the Albanian border points.
“The first is very clear that even suspicions always become facts in the media. The truth is completely different. Albania was attacked by a cyber attack in the summer of 2022 and from that moment all institutions have taken measures to increase the defense measures against any form of cyber attacks,” said Balla.
“I don’t know of a place today in the world we live in that hasn’t been, or isn’t under the pressure of cyber attacks almost every day. The US has just liquidated one of the biggest hacker gangs known to the US. This is one of those concerns that allegedly leaked data from the TIMS system,” he said.
He guaranteed that “none of the data from ‘TIMS’ was leaked and there were no problems. It is not true that there is a report, but I have requested that the data that AMP has is also evaluated by the prosecution, if there is any element,” Balla said, adding that this is a new standard that will be established in all structures. /argumentum.al
