TIRANA, August 31 – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, will host on Friday the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Canada, Melanie Joly, on an official visit, according to an announcement by the foreign ministry on Thursday.
The Canadian Foreign Minister’s visit to Albania comes as part of her European tour, which includes Slovenia, North Macedonia and Albania.
This is the second visit of a Canadian Foreign Minister to Tirana in the span of 9 years.
The visit of Minister Mélanie Joly to Albania testifies to the intensification of exchanges and high-level political dialogue between the two countries.
Albania-Canada political and diplomatic relations have developed even more during these years, with a direct impact on strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both countries share common values and as NATO allies are committed to maintaining peace and security at the regional and international level.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs visits Albania at a time when the role and contribution of Canada in the international arena has increased significantly, where the active role of Minister Joly stands out, and when Albania has been serving as a non-permanent member country of the UN Security Council for more than a year and a half and it will be chair of the Security Council in September. /argumentum.al
