TIRANA, September 1 – The chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha has unveiled that the negotiations are continuing with MPs of the faction who are close to the chairman of the parliamentary group of this faction, Gazmend Bardhi, for achieving the merger of the DP.
“The truth is that the group was of the unanimous opinion to continue the negotiations with the other deputies, with Gaz Bardhi, the chairman of the group and others, with the best goal – the achievement of a union”, he said at the weekly press conference on Friday.
Berisha said that it is concluded that this will exist in all parties.
“I call this decision of the group a fair decision in accordance with the interests of DP, its members and sympathizers. With Bardhi and every other deputy, except Alibasha (Enkelejd Alibeaj) and Lul Pengu (Lulzim Basha), this party is and will be open for discussion. They both (Basha and Alibeaj) have taken themselves out, they have become hostages of (PM) Edi Rama,” he said.
Likewise, Berisha said that every proposal that comes from those who decide to work on a realistic basis for reconciliation and unification is considered seriously.
Berisha also warned of a general protest for the overthrow of the government. “General protests until we topple this government with the sole purpose of returning the right to vote to Albanians, to restore the implementation of the electoral code,” said Berisha.
Meanwhile, Berisha wished the historical leader of the Socialist Party (SP) Fatos Nano a speedy recovery. “With all sincerity and with all my heart, I wish Fatos Nano a speedy and complete recovery and to overcome this difficult situation and return to his family,” he said.
Nano, the founder of the SP, is seriously ill and as it is reported by the media he is hospitalized in one of the private hospitals of Tirana. /argumentum.al
