TIRANA, September 2 – Lulzim Basha, chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), decided to also take on the authority of the head of the parliamentary group in the National Assembly of this democratic group supported only by 10 deputies on Saturday although he spoke quite a bit about the separation of powers and separation from the chairman’s party only a few weeks after taking the reins of the leadership of this political force.
He fired Gazment Bardhi, one of his opponents within the party, from this position.
The “Mea Culpa” for the leadership of the DP was followed by the accusations against the historical leader of the Democrats, extending the hands of cooperation to anyone aligned with Sali Berisha, except for the latter.
“Sali Berisha’s conscience is burdened with sin and he cold-bloodedly holds the democrats hostage for his narrow interests and trades their aspirations for his own bargains,” declared Basha.
According to him, the new alternative provides for the limitation of the governing mandate of a prime minister, no more than two terms at the head of the executive, while the statute that was approved with many changes does not sanction the possible resignation of the party chairman in case of losing the elections.
But the statutory changes did not pass without being commented on by the head of the parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, who through a quote by the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, wrote on social networks on Saturday that “living in disillusionment is personal, knowingly deceiving everyone and above all yourself about the umpteenth time is unforgivable.”
Earlier, Bardhi called the Assembly convened by Basha null and void, warning that there will be an attempt to go to the Parliament with a unified parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, cooperating with the part of deputies who support Sali Berisha. /argumentum.al
