TIRANA, September 9 – Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on social networks on Saturday the figures that show that Albanian exports in the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) area have increased.
Exports have increased from 398 million euros in 2018 to 686 million in 2022 (+72%). According to him, this is another clear example of Albania’s rise to a new level.
“The increase of Albanian exports from 398 million euros in 2018 to 686 million in 2022 (+72%) in the CEFTA area, which includes the six countries of our region plus Moldova, is another clear example of Albania’s rise to a new level towards the top where we aim to climb in 2030,” said Rama.
Together with the countries of the region, Albania has taken measures to make trade between countries easier, reducing time and customs procedures. In recent years, the government has implemented the national trade action plan and the regional economic zone plan. These measures have brought an increase in Albania’s commercial exchanges, where agricultural exports lead, especially with the countries that are part of the CEFTA Agreement.
CEFTA was signed in Bucharest on December 19, 2006 and began to be implemented during 2007. The countries that implement this agreement among themselves are Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Moldova. With the beginning of the implementation of this agreement, they were fully liberalized only after 2014, when all participating countries implemented its additional Protocol II. /argumentum.al
