TIRANA, September 10 – Defense Minister Niko Peleshi declared on Sunday that the “Joint Ionian Livex 2023” joint exercise between the Albanian and Greek Naval Forces, which took place in the waters of the Ionian Sea, has been successfully concluded.
Peleshi said the focus of the exercise was the improvement of interaction in conducting naval operations and, according to him, this exercise was the continuation of the further strengthening of ties as an important form of regional cooperation and mutual trust between the Naval Forces of the two neighboring countries in the Ionian Sea.
In this joint exercise, 2 ships of the Albanian Navy participated, the ship Iliria P-131 and Oriku P-132, as well as the ship of the Greek Navy Troupakis P-23.
During three days, the ships carried out training on the procedures for the development of SAR search-rescue operations, law enforcement operations, detention procedures at sea, various navigation formations, supply at sea, close protection of ships from asymmetric attacks.
The exercise was conducted based on NATO’s standard procedures for conducting naval operations.
At the closing ceremony of the activity in the port of Saranda, southern Albania, the exercise was closely watched by the Commander of the Naval Force Rear Admiral Adnand Agastra, as well as the representative of the Greek Naval Force Commodore Vasileios Gyparis. /argumentum.al
