TIRANA, September 12 – The “December 90” group held a march on Tuesday from the “Mother Teresa ” square to the Azem Hajdari Memorial on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his murder. Former democrat students stopped in front of the Prime Minister’s Office to observe a minute of silence. Afterwards, tributes were paid at the Azem Hajdari Memorial in Tirana. Homage was also paid by senior officials of the Democratic Party (DP) and its supporters.
The DP chairman, Sali Berisha, in a statement to the media after the ceremony, said that “Azem Hajdari is a living call for all Albanians to stand up today and overthrow the dictatorship of crime.”
“Today, we are here to honor the legend of courage, bravery, of Albanian youth, of Albanian students, Azem Hajdari on the 25th anniversary of his execution by the state… Hajdari is one of the rarest figures in our national history,” said Berisha.
President Bajram Begaj commemorated Azem Hajdari on the 25th anniversary of his murder, describing him as one of the main figures in the founding of the Democratic Party.
In his message posted on social networks on Tuesday, the president called him the ‘Hero of Democracy’.
“The leader of December in the 90s with his bravery and courage will be remembered for generations as the leader of democracy,” said Begaj. /argumentum.al
