TIRANA, September 14 – The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) passed for trial the file against Fredi Beleri, accused by SPAK of buying votes.
The trial against Beleri in the GJKKO will take place with the usual process.
Beleri’s lawyer said in a statement to the media at the end of Thursday’s session that the elected mayor of Himara himself has declared that he is being held in prison politically and without any evidence.
According to reports, the first court hearing against Beleri is expected to take place on Monday, September 18, 2023.
Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 elections, the date when votes were cast to elect new mayors of municipalities in Albania. He was not allowed to take part in the swearing in ceremony for the post of Mayor of Himara, southern Albania. /argumentum.al
