TIRANA, September 16 – Interior Minister Taulant Balla has met the Spanish Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, in Tirana and the cooperation between the police departments of the two countries was discussed.
Balla said in a post on social networks that the meeting was focused on the intensification of cooperation in the attack on criminal networks involved in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.
“With the Minister of the Interior of Spain, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, we talked about the cooperation between our law enforcement agencies in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime,” he said.
Further Balla said that Albania and Spain “will step up cooperation in hitting criminal networks involved in drug trafficking from several Latin American countries to Europe, where Albanian citizens are also involved.”
In another event, Interior Minister Balla declared that the process of removing incriminated employees from the ranks of the police will not be stopped.
He said that three officers of the Traffic Police, two in Vlora and one in Fier, were arrested and charged with criminal responsibility for corrupt actions on Saturday, bringing them to the 10 cases struck in the last eight weeks.
