TIRANA, September 18 – The director of the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), Elsa Dhuli, has said that the process of counting citizens and their housing conditions began in the entire territory of Albania on Monday.
In a statement to the media about 6 hours after the official start of the process, Dhuli called on every citizen in the country to devote a few minutes to the registration process, cooperating with the local surveyors as the Census is a public good in their interest.
“All over the territory of the Republic of Albania, INSTAT employees, surveyors, controllers and supervisors have gone out to count the resident population in Albania and their housing conditions,” said Dhuli.
According to her, this is a statistical process, but with dimensions of special importance for the country.
“So far the process is going well according to the monitoring system as well as representatives of INSTAT. Most of the pollsters are registered in the application. About 1,500 interviews are in the process of being interviewed, of which about 800 questionnaires have been completed,” said Dhuli.
According to her, this activity will last 6 weeks. “The collected data helps the government to decide how to distribute funds and assistance to counties and municipalities. Local authorities will use this information to determine where to build schools, homes and hospitals, roads, water networks etc.,” said Dhuli. /argumentum.al
