TIRANA, September 30 – The attack of the Serbian armed group was beyond terrorism because it was a ‘true military attack’ and what happened in the North of Kosovo resembled what happened in 2014 in Crimea when Russia annexed that territory from Ukraine, has said the former interior minister, Sandër Lleshaj on News24 TV on Saturday.
“The attack has similarities with what happened in Crimea in 2014. For me it is beyond terrorism, it is worse than that. This was a real military attack that didn’t work. Killing a policeman is not terrorism. The attack was ill-defined. Its essence is a little more,” said the former minister.
As for Albania’s position on Kosovo, Lleshaj said that the country should understand its role well, since according to him, it does not have the luxury of being indifferent to Pristina. “The tension between (premiers of Albania and Kosovo) Edi Rama and Albin Kurti should not exist. Kosovo should be pursued along this journey even if they choose the wrong path. We do not know better than they about the circumstance. Kosovo does not suffer for talent, but for power. Even the draft effort (on the Serb Association) was useless, because no one suffers from the lack of a draft.”
Lleshaj noted that the EU is still unable to even recognize Kosovo as an independent state as long as there are still member states that do not recognize it.
The EU is divided on its policy towards Kosovo, with 5 of 27 EU member states – Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Spain) – not recognizing its sovereignty of Kosovo.
According to the former interior minister, KFOR deserved criticism for being indifferent to such a military arsenal inside Kosovo, which he does not believe is the only one. /argumentum.al
