TIRANA, October 1 – Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Xhelal Svecla, said on Sunday that his country has gathered evidence proving that Serbia tried to annex northern Kosovo and that the attackers were prepared in Serbian military bases inside Serbia.
The Kosovo Police was attacked by a group of about 30 armed and masked persons in the village of Banjska, in the municipality of Zvecan on September 24, where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
“Serbia repeatedly tried to say that it has nothing to do with this attack, but the facts that will be published prove that the preparations, training and exercises of this group were carried out at the military training base near Jagodina as well as in Kopaunik. These images were provided by the drones of the terrorist group that we confiscated,” said Svecla.
The Director General of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, said that the group that carried out the attack in Banjska had been trained for a long time in the military bases of the Serbian army, according to a report by Free Europe Radio on Sunday.
“The plan of (the attackers) was a total plan for the annexation of the north of Kosovo. In the documents we have, which we cannot share with you now, there is a plan for the annexation of the north foreseen in the initial phase in 37 positions, from where our police units would be attacked, not only in Banjska and Zvecan, but in all the northern parts. After that it was planned the creation of a free corridor for Serbia and other supplies of people, materials, experts and other supplies necessary for an armed resistance and for the creation of a new reality in the country,” said Hoxha. /argumentum.al
