TIRANA, October 6 – Foreign Minister Igli Hasani has said at the joint press conference with his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock and Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi at the end of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Berlin Process held in Tirana on Friday that Albania’s stance towards the normalization process between Kosovo and Serbia is unchanged.
According to him, a very serious event took place, a criminal terrorist attack in the north of Kosovo, but Albania’s attitude towards the Pristina-Belgrade normalization process remains unchanged and is in full harmony with the attitude of the European Union and the United States.
“We have stated and requested several times publicly and officially in the highest instances of the Euro-Atlantic community that the format of the normalization dialogue should be raised to the level of a normalization conference with the Franco-German road map at the negotiating table,” said Albania’s top diplomat, echoing the stances expressed earlier by PM Edi Rama on an ‘international conference’, which has been rejected by official Pristina.
Hasani expected Serbia to launch a serious investigation into the terrorist criminal group potentially involved in the armed attack in northern Kosovo and their links with arms traffickers and other individuals or entities in Serbia or elsewhere, but the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is the only way to peace.
In the meantime Hasani said the October summit in Tirana will focus on proposals that will “significantly improve the region’s economic development” with projects in transport, electronic development, telecommunication and raw materials. “It aims at the revitalization of the European integration process,” Hasani said. /argumentum.al
