TIRANA, October 9 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has held a meeting with the President of the Republic Bajram Begaj and according to a post on social networks released by Rama on Monday the main topic of the discussion was the Berlin Process Summit to be held in Tirana on October 16 as well as the official visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron, to Tirana, the first one to this Balkan country.
On October 16, Albania will host the Berlin Process Summit, which for the first time will be held outside the borders of the European Union. The Berlin Process Summit, launched in 2014 at the initiative of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, aims to promote political dialogue, cooperation and reconciliation among the six countries of the Western Balkans. Some ministerial meetings and other activities have been held in Tirana in the frame of the preparation of the Summit which as it is learned by diplomatic sources will issue a joint declaration.
Meanwhile, the Elysée presidential palace has announced that French President Emmanuel Macron will pay the first bilateral visit of a French president to Albania on October 16 and 17 after the BP summit for the Western Balkans.
In the meantime, it is reported by local media that 100 officers of the French Gendarmerie and security forces have arrived in Tirana, who will join Albanian police and security forces in the frame of Macron’s stay in Albania. /argumentum.al
