TIRANA, October 10 – The Court of Appeal has rejected the extradition of former member of the Liberation Army of Kosovo (UCK), Dritan Goxhaj to The Hague, overturning the decision of the Court of First Instance of Tirana.
“I want to tell you that we never lost our freedom, neither I nor the UCK nor the others who are in The Hague. The case against me was an attempt to scare us and tell us that we were not on the right path. Today we managed to show you again that we are on the right path and we have fought rightly,” said Goxhaj after the Court’s ruling.
Goxhaj, arrested on behalf of the Special Court, was accused of committing the criminal offenses of “Intimidation during criminal proceedings” and “Obstructing an official in the performance of official duties”, provided by the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kosovo. Goxhaj dismissed the charges against him.
Dritan Goxhaj voluntarily joined the war in Kosovo and accompanied the American troops during 1999. /argumentum.al
