TIRANA, October 15 – President Bajram Begaj held a meeting with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, who arrived in Tirana on Sunday to attend the Summit of the Berlin Process which will be held on Monday.
The acceleration of the integration process in the European Union, the security situation in Europe and the Western Balkans, regional cooperation in the optics of the Berlin Process were the main topics that were discussed during the meeting.
“Albania is determined on its journey towards the European Union,” said Begaj in the meeting. Focusing on the critical security situation that Europe and the Western Balkans are going through, he assured Von der Leyen that “Albania continues to support and be aligned with the foreign and security policies of the EU.”
President Begaj appreciated the positions of the European Union for the stabilization of peace in the region, demanding that the Serbian terrorist attack of September 24 against a sovereign country, such as Kosovo, and destabilization of the entire region be punished.
Describing as a historic event the holding of the Summit of the leaders of the Berlin Process for the first time in a country of the Western Balkans in Albania, President Begaj was confident that the summit would promote better relations between the countries of the Western Balkans and that it would build the right tracks for the creation of an economic market of the area. /argumentum.al
