TIRANA, October 19 – Thursday’s plenary session lasted only 20 minutes due to the blocking of the assembly’s proceedings by the opposition MPs. The 45 deputies of the democratic parliamentary group, as they had warned, did not allow the normal continuation of the parliament, occupying not only the pulpit, but also the places where government ministers sit.
In the middle of the chaos of blocking the plenary session, DP head Sali Berisha had communication with public opinion from social networks, where he announced the start of the opposition resistance.
“This parliament has turned into a personal institution of Edi Rama and Linda of the parliament, who run this institution in the most immoral, most shameful, most unconstitutional, most illegal way,” he said.
The created situation forced the head of the Assembly, Ermonela Felaj, to postpone the plenary session, warning of punitive measures for the democrat deputies who blocked the assembly.
Although the lights of the assembly were turned off, the deputies continued to remain in the plenary session, continuing with the accusations against the majority.
Outside the Assembly, the head of the democrats’ parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, said that the opposition’s decision comes as a result of blocking the majority of 3 investigative commissions.
For the chaos in the session and the demands of the opposition, Bardhi was given the answer by the head of the parliamentary group of socialists, Bledi Çuçi.
“A co-chairman is required to carry the consensus, by not waiting for answers and occupying the government’s platform. They do not have the right to seize the institutions by force. It is a right of the opposition to set up investigative commissions, but it is not absolute,” he said.
The chaos created in the session ‘cost’ 23 democrat deputies, including former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the head of the Parliamentary Group Gazment Bardhi, 10 days of exclusion from the work of the Assembly and parliamentary committees. /argumentum.al
