TIRANA, October 19 – MEPs approved by a majority of votes the resolution that the event of September 24 in Banjska where the policeman Afim Bunjaku was killed, is described as a terrorist attack.
Serbia is criticized for several actions, such as the clear non-distance from the attack, the announcement of a day of mourning in Serbia for the three attackers killed. Therefore, it called for the withdrawal of military troops from the border with Kosovo and to cooperate in the investigation of the incident, including the extradition of the suspects.
“If the investigation reveals direct involvement of the Serbian state in the September 24 attacks, the Commission should freeze the funds given to Serbia under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance III,” said the resolution.
The resolution calls for the deescalation of the situation and the reduction of the parties in the dialogue, while it is requested from Brussels to remove the punitive measures for Kosovo.
“We regret the negative measures that the Council has taken towards Kosovo and we ask that they be removed as soon as possible,” it said.
Also, the MEPs demand that the liberalization of visas for Kosovo should not be questioned and that this issue should not be related to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. /argumentum.al
