TIRANA, November 6 – The head of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta reacted on Monday to the situation created in the chairmanship of the Assembly, stressing that the violation of the constitutional rights of the opposition is an attack on political pluralism.
Deputies of the opposition expelled for ten days because of clashes with majority deputies in plenary session asked to enter the chairmanship of the Assembly on Monday prevented by the forces of the Guard but they succeeded by entering through a window of the building.
Meta said that the crisis that has affected the Assembly is not resolved with the Guard of the Republic, but with respect for the Constitution.
“I strongly condemn the militarization of the most important institution of the Republic, – the Assembly of Albania. The violation of the constitutional rights of the opposition is an attack on political pluralism and accountability to the citizens,” said Meta in a post on social networks.
“The Freedom Party firmly supports the position of the opposition and in particular the guarantee of the establishment of investigative commissions in the Assembly, the right of the opposition to choose its representatives in the Electoral Reform Commission, the guarantee of the consideration of all draft laws that the opposition has submitted to the Assembly that have been blocked for years. The opposition MPs represent the voice of over 700,000 citizens, who have the right to be heard,” said Meta. /argumentum.al
