TIRANA, November 11 – The National Council of European Integration in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union, the Foundation Open Society for Albania, the Foundation “Friedrich Ebert Stiftung” and “Western Balkans Consulting”, organized the eighth round of the European Integration School from 6 – November 10, 2023, in the premises of the Presidency of the Assembly and the House of Europe (Europe House).
This year, 38 participants were selected from 106 applicants. For the first time, 11 Albanian-speaking experts from the countries of the region, who are students of the Brussels School of Diplomacy, joined this event online.
For the eighth consecutive year, the School of European Integration aimed to identify and engage prominent actors from all central and local government institutions, civil society organizations, media, minorities and interest groups, creating a consolidated group of experts with in-depth knowledge of the European integration process, which can contribute to the process of Albania’s EU membership negotiations.
The School of European Integration 2023 offered a complete theoretical and practical framework on the latest developments in the EU, possible scenarios for its future, challenges and negotiation strategies, the role of civil society and the media in the process, the progress of the process of integration of the country, as well as the future of the expansion process with the countries of the Western Balkans and Albania.
Lecturers from the European Commission, the University of Thessaloniki, international experts from Brussels, Germany and the countries of the region such as Serbia and Montenegro, as well as national experts from institutions, representatives of the media and civil society, shared their professional experience in integration issues.
Jorida Tabaku, President of the National Council of European Integration, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, Chargé d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to Tirana, and Mrs. Stine Klapper, Executive Director of “Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Tirana”, congratulated the participants and encouraged them to be as active as possible in their contribution to the country’s journey towards the EU. /Argumentum.al
