The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has insisted that the agreement be signed and implemented by Serbia.
In a press conference after the meeting with the Irish Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, Kurti said that he is insisting on signing the agreement with Serbia, but that, according to him, Belgrade is not ready to do such a thing.
The Head of the Government has asked the EU to react to the violations that Serbia is making against the basic agreement.
Prime Minister Kurti requested that the issue of the Association’s draft statute not be separated, as he said, from the package of the basic agreement.
Asked about the ban on the introduction of Serbian goods, Kurti said that all of this is in accordance with the security situation.
He said that the security conditions in Kosovo and the border with Serbia are still not good.
He also said that Ireland is a supporter of Kosovo both in the Council of Europe and for EU membership, as he added that the two countries have close ties with the USA.
