On 21.02.2024, the Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia, headed by the Honorary Consul Mr. Genci Likoskëndaj, was officially opened in Durrës.
Representatives from the diplomatic corps, local authorities, the business sector, media, artists and many other guests took part in the ceremony.
In his address, the Ambassador of Slovenia in Albania Mr. Peter Japelj pointed out that the Consulate in Durrës represents a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.

˝I have no doubt that the work of the consul and the consulate will contribute to the deepening of the already excellent and friendly relations between Slovenia and Albania,˝ Ambassador Japelj emphasized.
Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Albania Mr. Genci Likoskëndaj, during the welcome speech, expressed his satisfaction for the opening of the Honorary Consulate in the city of Durrës.

˝The Honorary Consulate represents a step forward in the direction of strengthening the cooperation between Slovenia and Albania,˝ Mr. Likoskëndaj said.
Present at this ceremony was also the Deputy Mayor of Durrës Municipality Mr. Elio Jani, who appreciated the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Slovenia and considered it as an asset of the city in service of the further growth of tourism in the coastal city.
The Honorary Consulate will serve as a bridge between Albania and Slovenia and will keep its doors open for any kind of support to mutual exchanges in all areas, facilitating trade, as well as increasing the economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
