TIRANA – Amidst the good news that 3 patients have recovered leaving the hospital, the daily update by health authorities has informed that 13 new affected persons with Covid-19 were added rising the total number of the infected people to 89 in Albania.
“During the last 24 hours 33 persons were tested out of which 13 were confirmed as new cases of affected persons by Covid-19,” said Albana Fico, Director of the Institute of Public Health (ISHP) in a press release issued on Sunday.
The number of hospitalized patients is 43, while 804 persons have been tested at national level. It is noted that the map of the spread of the infection has expanded with three cases found out in the southeastern city of Korca. Tirana has 8 new cases, Durres 1 and Kavaja 1.
“Out of the total number of the confirmed cases 58 percent are men and 42 percent are women, while the average age of those affected is 48 years old,” explained Ms. Fico.
In a comment on the recovered patients she said that after leaving the hospital they are placed in self-confinement which would last 14 days.
In another event, it is reported that a 85-year old man from the commune of Podujeva, Kosovo, passed away on Saturday becoming the first fatality of coronavirus pandemic in that country. The victim was the father of a son who had come from Italy.
The number of those infected with Covid-19 has amounted to 31. “The government calls on the citizens to stay at home,” local media quoted Kosovo authorities as saying on Sunday.
Meanwhile the Health Minister of North Macedonia said on Sunday that the total number of the affected persons by Covid-19 stands at 114 as 29 new cases were confirmed.
“The cases with Covid-19 are confirmed in Skopje, Ohrid, Dibra, Shtip and Kumanova. One – third of the total number of the affected cases in the country was confirmed on Saturday evening,” said North Macedonian authorities. /argumentum.al/
