TIRANA – It has increased to 212 the total number of the infected people with coronavirus as its territorial spread became wider after a case was found in Mirdita region, has said the health ministry.
“During the last 24 hours 111 suspected persons were tested and the results confirmed 15 new cases infected with Covid-19,” said the Deputy Health Minister, Mira Rakacolli in the daily update on Sunday.
She revealed that a total of 1,436 suspected cases had been tested out which 212 persons had been confirmed positive. “Some 10 citizens have lost their life due to Covid-19,” said Ms. Rakacolli, who underlined that 76 patients are hospitalized at the infectious hospital in Tirana. Further on, the senior health official disclosed that there are 40 patients who have recovered being tested negative.
According to her, currently there are 121 cases confirmed in Tirana, 22 in Fier and 12 in Korca, while the figures are lower in other regions of Albania.
A recent development in neighboring North Macedonia shows that two persons infected with coronavirus passed away. This was made public by the Health Minister Venko Filipçe who noted in a press conference on Sunday that one of the fatalities was 91-year old while the other patient’s age was 31.
The Minister said there are 16 new infected cases in North Macedonia during the last 24 hours and the total number of the affected persons with Covid – 19 amounts to 257. As quoted by GazetaExpress, the number one of the health ministry said 2 cases were confirmed as negative.
“The second test of 2 patients in the medical clinic of Skopje confirmed them negative and the second test is expected for 5 other patients,” said Mr. Filipçe. /argumentum/al
