TIRANA – Tests for Serbs suspected to be affected with Covid-19 in northern Kosovo are being sent to Belgrade, and some severely infected people are also being transferred for treatment in Serbia, a report by Birn news agency said on Monday.
“The Belgrade-funded parallel health system run by the Serbian minority in Kosovo is sending its COVID-19 test results to Serbia – with very little or no collaboration with Kosovo’s own institutions,” Birn revealed.
Health centers and hospitals function in Serb-majority municipalities, following rules set by Serbia, which is causing difficulties in the management of the current pandemic.
The director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo, Marko Djuric was quoted by Birn as saying that Belgrade had established direct lines of communication with institutions in Kosovo to allow the free passage of patents and medics to Serbia. /argumentum.al
