TIRANA – The confinement measures will be in force until the end of the coronavirus epidemic in Albania being extended beyond the previous deadline set for April 3, said an order released by the Health Ministry on Wednesday.
According to the order, all public and non public activities and massive gatherings are banned until the end of the epidemic. Schools and other educational institutions will continue the lessons online and small and big businesses, bars, restaurants etc. have to stay shut. As it is explained the order includes all subjects and categories mentioned by the order dated March 8. With regard to health institutions the order keeps closed all dental clinics while public and non public hospitals will not be permitted to make surgeries.
The extension of such a confinement measure was opposed by Petrit Vasili, deputy chairman of the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI), an opposition party in the DP-led united opposition, who said on Wednesday that no country has kept in force quarantine for such a long time even though affected by Covid-19.
“I explain the reason and it is the lack of test kits, which does not allow to know the situation of the pandemic,” he said, adding that the real situation is being hidden by the government. According to him, the number of tests is very limited becoming ridiculous. “Citizens are deprived of the right to make tests,” said Vasili who reprimanded PM Edi Rama for comparing Albania’s health system with that of US or some other developed countries.
“We are at large having only a premier who has the incredible courage to draw comparisons with the US,” said Vasili, a former health minister. /argumentum.al
