TIRANA – As health minister Ogerta Manastirliu has declared that Albania is in the middle of a battle which has not finished yet, the official daily update showed on Sunday that there were 28 new cases of affected people with coronavirus taking the total number to 361.
According to the minister, the rising curb of the epidemic has been moderate in the number of the affected. “If these restrictions were not exerted, we would not have had this small number,” Manastirliu said, warning that no steps back regarding the social distancing would be made.
The minister was displeased that some people thought that the worst was over, but, as she said, the opposite is true.
“We are in the middle of a battle, which has not been stopped at any moment.”
Manastirliu announced that sanitary cordons will be placed in markets for keeping the social distancing. “The government has decided to toughen the measures, especially where there are gatherings of people,” she said making an appeal to the citizens to respect the social discipline and personal hygiene because this war can be won in this way.
Sunday’s medical bulleting announced that there is a child among those confirmed infected with the virus. A 80-year old woman passed away in the northern city of Shkodra rising to 20 the number of fatalities in Albania so far. /argumentum.al
