TIRANA – Regardless of the fluctuations of the daily number of the new cases of affected persons with coronavirus the situation is under control in Albania, has said Dr. Marjeta Dervishi of the Institute of Public Health who announced on Sunday that there were 14 new cases in the last 24 hours.
“The real indicator is the number of the hospitalized persons which continues to remain in stable figures,” she said. It is to be noted that the highest number of the affected people was recorded in the town of Kruja where there were 7 new cases. As local media say most of them are employees at textile workshops which since long have been considered as dangerous hotspots of the infection.
The total number of the declared affected people stands at 222 while the trend of the recovered patients has kept rising climbing to 314. The number of fatalities is 26. There are currently 42 persons hospitalized at the two infectious diseases hospitals in Tirana.
The outbreak of the pandemic has been accompanied with a rise of the awareness of Albanians living abroad who work in the medical sector, particularly those who are specialized in infectious diseases.
Local media has reported that some of them have recently established the Federation of Albanian Medics in Europe.
In a message of greetings to the Federation the chairman of the opposition Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha expressed gratitude to the members of this organization in a FB post on Sunday.
“I express the most heartfelt congratulations and successes to the Federation of Albanian Medics in Europe. Tomorrow it will be the source of the Albanian and European expertise through which we will erect our health system,” said Basha.
It should be mentioned one fact that the appreciation and popularity of Albanian medical staff which are in the forefront of the combat against Covid-19 in Tirana has increased highly among the population of the country. In different ways Albanian express their gratitude to them for their untiring work in a battle with a heinous deadly virus, which has caused a huge number of fatalities worldwide and has knelt down the economies of the greatest powers. /argumentum.al
