TIRANA – Some pandemic related events were Thursday’s highlights with the protest of some dozens of citizens at the main square of the Capital Tirana asking for a removal of the restrictions imposed by the government to check the spread of contagious virus turning violent.
“Ten new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Thursday, bringing the total number of affected people to 842,” said director at Institute of Public Health, Rovena Daja who explained that three cases were found in Tirana, three in Kruja, two in Shkodra and two in Kamza. Currently there are 206 active people infected with COVID-19.
“Most of the affected are being cured by the family doctor or are asymptomatic, while 38 patients are hospitalized and only 7 of them are in intensive care at the two COVID hospitals in Tirana,” said Daja, who as usually called on citizens to be alert in face of the risk of the virus which, as specialists say, has not disappeared waning daily citizens of the danger of the renewal of the epidemic.
But the protesters at the Skandebeg Square in downtown Tirana on Thursday called the coronavirus threat as an illusion which has been created to install the dictatorship in Albania. Breaking the law which bans public gatherings the protesters demanded from the authorities to free the country from the restrictive measures and let the resumption of normal life.
According to them, the lockdown should be removed immediately and all businesses should be opened for the life to continue normally, because, as one of them said, the rules are being set by the “Despot Edi Rama”. Reports said that one of those detained is lawyer Zaqe Islami, who has claimed since the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic that COVID -19 is just a deception.
