TIRANA – The eighth week since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic started with the lowest tally of infected cases from the disease as health authorities said on Monday four persons were found positive in the last 24 hours. The same number of patients also recovered during the same time, said . the specialist at the Public Health Institution (ISHP), Eugena Tomini.
“Some 121 citizens suspected of being affected with Covid-19 were tested and 4 of them turned out positive, respectively 2 citizens in Tirana, 1 in Kamza and 1 in Shkodra in the last 24 hours,. So far 872 citizens have tested positive for COVID-19 across the country while 654 citizens have recovered, that is about 75% of all those affected,” Tomini said.
There are currently 187 active persons with COVID-19 in Albania and the situation at the hospitals has been stable for days. “Currently, 28 patients are hospitalized in two COVID hospitals in Tirana and only 3 of them are in intensive care,” said Tomini.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 10,559 molecular tests and 530 serological tests have been carried out.
The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana (87), Kruja (56), Shkodra (17), Kamza (12), Fier (5), Kurbin (3), Elbasan (3), Mirdita (1), Berat (1), Durres (1), Korca (1).
Although the evidence flares up hope that the situation is significantly improving, the health authorities hasten to tell citizens to be cautious and responsible in this opening stage that Albania has entered after one of the most rigid lockdowns in the region.
“Despite the easing of measures, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection invites citizens to abide by the rules, maintain physical distance and personal hygiene,” said specialist Eugena Tomini./argumentum.al
