TIRANA – A nameless team has been created to manage the EU accession negotiations of Albania, which got the green light for that stage last March.
This was announced by the Acting Foreign Minister, Genc Cakaj on Sunday.
The only indication on the ‘surprise’ members of that body is Cakaj’s consideration that the team is composed of “rare experts” with the “necessary professionalism and integrity”.
He called on all political parties to support the ‘unknowns’.
In March, EU leaders approved the opening of EU accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia at the climax of the coronavirus pandemic setting a list of conditions for Albania to meet before sitting at the negotiations table.
The only known name of the negotiating team is its head as government has already made public the appointment of Zef Mazi, a career diplomat, in that position./argumentum.al
