Coronavirus cases are on a frenetic rise in Albania where as the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday there were 257 new cases of COVID-19 and 5 losses of life in the last 24 hours.
According to the press release, 102 patients have been cured, bringing to 9,864 the number of recovered in the country since the outbreak of the epidemic. It is reported that Tirana has registered the highest number with 83 cases on Thursday.
In the meantime the former MP Kastriot Islami, who represents the opposition, urged experts to clarify whether the increase in infections is related to the growth in the number of tests or something else.
“I strongly doubt that the number of tests has increased to create the impression of a growth in the number of infected and thus to justify the arrogant order to wear masks. While the truth is not accepted that the increase in the spread of the virus occurs for almost a month and the government should be held responsible for incompetence and irresponsibility in managing the situation,” said Islami a former FM.
Starting from Thursday it is mandatory the mask wearing in Albania even outdoors which has immediately become a controversial issue./argumentum.al
