Relations between Turkey and Albania are at high levels and cooperation continues to take them even higher, has said Speaker Mustafa Sentop, who is on an official visit to Albania, a visit which he started with a meeting with his host head Gramoz Ruçi on Thursday.
In a joint press conference, the Turkish Speaker announced that the procedures for the opening of the Consulate General of Turkey in Vlora, which will further develop the southern tourism of Albania, have been completed.
“With Albania we share a rooted history and a common culture… Our bilateral relations are moving to a great level, which suits our historical friendship and our allied relations,” he said adding that the relationship has been upgraded to the level of strategic cooperation.
“During the meeting with Speaker Ruçi, I also spoke about the activity of the terrorist organization Feto. As in different Balkan countries, this terrorist organization is also present in Albania,” he said.
“This organization, this terrorist group, in order to achieve its goals, disguises its activity with educational institutions, health, media and various associations. All the places where it operates pose a threat to the security of those countries. But I want to say that we will never allow this terrorist organization to poison the relations between our two countries,” said Speaker Sentop.
Further on he said currently the trade exchanges between the two countries are around 500 million euros. Turkish investments in Albania amount to about $ 3.5 billion.
“We are determined to raise this trade exchange to the level of $ 1 billion within a few years,” Turkish Speaker pledged. /argumentum.al
