An amount of 25,000 doses of Russian Sputnik V vaccine has arrived in the Albanian capital Tirana. The news was released by Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday through a post on “Facebook” where he emphasized that the target for half a million vaccinated people will be achieved in the first part of May.
“Another amount of 25,000 doses of the SPUTNIK vaccine has arrived. The vaccination rates will continue to increase and the target of half a million vaccinated people by May will be reached in the first part of the next month,” Rama said.
Since the start of the vaccination, a total of 453,255 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, of which 353,491 vaccinations for persons over 60 years of age.
Besides Sputnik V other sorts of vaccines are being administered in Albania among which Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac. According to Albanian authorities, the largest amount of vaccines which have already been contracted is the Chinese vaccine Sinovac. The contract with a Turkish company provides for the supply with 1-million doses of Sinovac. /argumentum.al
