No comment on the findings of the ODIHR’s Final Report on the April 25 parliamentary elections in Albania has been made by the US Embassy in Tirana.
In a note posted on social networks on Wednesday the US Embassy announced that it had taken note of ODIHR’s Final Report on the April 25 parliamentary elections, which builds on the preliminary report of April 26.
Vote buying, leaking of sensitive personal data of some 900,000 Albanian citizens before elections, including their political preferences, ministers’ participation in campaign during official engagements, media self-censorship because of pressure and corruption, failure to implement ODIHR recommendations including those related to de-politicization of lower-level election commissions, suffrage rights of persons with disabilities, criminal liability for defamation and use of campaign materials in the news.
The above were some of the irregularities which were made public by the report on Tuesday.
However the note of the US Embassy said
all relevant institutions were urged to review the final report and its recommendations to further improve Albania’s elections.
