Prime Minister Edi Rama has called on citizens in Albania to be vaccinated. He posted on Facebook on Friday the total number of vaccinations which stands at 1.5 million while repeating the appeal: “Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate!”
Rama’s call was as following: “Protect Health; Vaccines Save Lives; Albania Smiles.”
Coronavirus figures in Albania continue to be high. The Ministry of Health reported on Friday that out of 5,901 tests, 895 new cases resulted affected with COVID-19. Three people lost their lives in the last 24 hours and according to evidence there are more than three weeks that there are fatalities in this Balkan country where in July that figure was zero.
There are currently 11,288 active COVID19 patients nationwide. 114 patients are receiving treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tirana, out of which 19 are in a more serious condition.
But the former DP health minister, Tritan Shehu raised the question: “What is the real number of deaths from Covid currently in Albania? Kosovo reports 100 deaths in 4 days! What about Albania?” Shehu, a deputy in the new Parliament, said apparently the government continues to hide the figures by not declaring them, as it has done before. / argumentum.al
