The funeral ceremony was held in Tirana on Wednesday for the police officer, Saimir Hoxha who was assassinated in a shoot out with a group of drug dealers in the suburbs of the town of Lezha, northern Albania on Monday.
To honor his figure and sacrifice, homage was held at the Palace of Congresses on Wednesday, attended by thousands of people. Among those who honored Deputy Commissar Hoxha, Martyr of the Fatherland, were the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, Prime Minister Edi Rama, the leader of the opposition Democratic Party Lulzim Basha and other leaders, friends and colleagues.

The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, stated after the homage in honor of Deputy Commissioner Saimir Hoxha that the police did not deserve to be separated from life by family, friends and the community for whom he sacrificed his life.
He also added that this event is a moment of reflection for the fight against crime, seeking the rescue of as many young people and children who fall prey to the phenomenon of crime.
Prime Minister Edi Rama said that it is a difficult moment for everyone and expressed his condolences to his family and colleagues. He stressed that financial support does not compensate the gap for the family, but the duty of the state is for the children of martyrs who give their lives in the line of duty not to be left alone, but to feel fully supported, supported and encouraged to enter the path of their life being proud not only of the parent but also of the state.
Basha stated that the Democratic Party will work to restore the lost dignity of Albania police officers.
The 45-year-old Deputy Commissar was killed on Tuesday on duty by a 21-year-old. He left behind two minor children.
