The insistent invitation to govern made by Prime Minister Edi Rama to the chairman of the opposition Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha have got stronger with the words of appreciation to the latter by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, considered one of the strongmen in the ruling Socialist Party.
Veliaj did not spare the appreciation to Basha for what he did regarding the expulsion of the veteran DP leader, Sali Berisha from the parliamentary group.
Last month Basha took a personal decision to expel Berisha from the DP parliamentary group saying he did that under the diktat of the US Embassy. As a matter of fact, the US Ambassador exerted harsh public pressure on Basha to oust Berisha from the parliamentary group.
In an interview on TopNews on Friday, Tirana Mayor extended compliments to Basha for expelling Sali Berisha. Veliaj said that Basha behaved like a leader.
“It should be appreciated Lulzim Basha. He made an important decision. He deserves respect because of his decision on the expulsion of Sali Berisha,” said Veliaj. / Argumentum.al
