Albania’s chief negotiator with the European Union Zef Mazi stated on Sunday that the Union is slowing down with the enlargement process, undermining its credibility.
In an interview with local media, Mazi hinted that even the December summit would not provide a date for Albania’s intergovernmental roundtable with the Union, and that work should be done to identify countries that are skeptical of decoupling the talks of Tirana with Skopje. In a rising tone of criticism out of the ethical diplomatic cloak the Ambassador said the EU risks turning to fakenews.
This stance of a senior diplomat is in line with that of his boss, Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has kept blaming Brussels for Albania’s failure to start the accession talks with the EU. /argumentum.al
