A spokesperson of the US State Department has told Gazeta Express that Kosovo and Serbia should ‘honor’ their commitments by implementing all prior agreements, including the Agreement on establishment of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities.
“It is essential for Kosovo and Serbia to honor their commitments by implementing all prior agreements. This includes the Association of Serb Municipalities,” the spokesperson of the US State Department told Gazeta Express on October 23, 2021.
No name of the spokesman is provided but according to the announcement the State Department is not prescribing how the Agreement on Association, or any other, should be implemented.
“We’re not prescribing how this agreement, or any others, should be implemented. The technicalities of implementation are subject to agreement between the parties,” said the above US diplomat
Also, the European Union officials say the Agreement reached between Pristina and Belgrade during the EU-facilitated Dialogue in Brussels on establishment of the Association of Serb Municipalities should be implemented.
Despite US and EU calls, Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, in a recent televised interview with KOHA said that most likely the Agreement on Serb Municipalities will not be implemented. He made the comments when asked about threat of Kosovo Serb political representatives that they will leave Kosovo institutions if Pristina does not establish the Association. Serbian side is insisting the Agreement on establishment of the Association to be addressed in next meeting of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue in Brussels. / argumentum.al
