While the current chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha has called for the National Assembly to be held on December 18, the former leader of this party, Sali Berisha will hold a referendum on the same datey in all cities of the country where the vote will be for the dismissal of the current leader and the re-establishment of the DP, decisions that were taken in the Assembly of December 11th. A few hours before the referendum, preparations for the process have begun. The materials for the referendum have been distributed, but have not yet arrived in Elbasan and Gjirokastra.
The Re-establishment Commission has also set up the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, which will deal with the direction of the process, chaired by deputy Albana Vokshi.
The voting process will take place from 08:00 to 17:00 on Saturday.
For the deputy chairman of DP, Enkelejd Alibeaj, it is not serious for a protest with such great sensitivity to be announced on a television screen, while he added that Sali Berisha as a deputy can not be in the National Assembly of DP on Saturday.
“It is clear to everyone that the referendum is a deliberate move, outside the rules and institutions of the party. There is no kind of fear. I would not like to repeat those sad scenes that took place on Monday at the headquarters,” Alibeaj said in a talk show on News 24 TV on Friday.
But analyst Artur Zheji, part of the debate, insisted that two poles are being created in the DP and it is being moved owards the creation of two parties. However, Alibeaj said such a thing is not true. “Berisha’s call for a national protest on the 20th of December is a demonstration of the force he will carry out. It means ‘I am the real Democratic Party, calling on the people to protest against Rama,'” Zheji said.
The 20 December protest is called to protest against the visit of Serb President Alexandar Vucic to Tirana and the initiative Open Balkans. / Argumentum.al
