Four people were arrested in connection with the scandal of publishing salaries and personal data of over 650,000 citizens on Friday.
Two IT employees of the Tax Directorate, Andi Agaraj and Eni Qirjako, as well as 2 private bailiffs, Klodian Sota and Endri Ikonomi, who bought the data, ended up behind bars.
The Head of the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office, Elisabeta Imeraj, said that the IT specialist at Tax Directorate, Eni Qirjako took the data on salaries from the system and passed them to her IT colleague, Andi Agaraj as both had access to database as they were employees.
Agaraj then sold the private data to 2 private bailiffs, who then distributed everything on social networks, creating a real scandal and threatening the security and privacy of over 650,000 citizens in Albania.
A reward worth 20,000 to 30,000 ALL was paid for the database but some sources said the amount of money paid is much higher.
PM Edi Rama was among the highest officials to denounce the scandal but he avoided any responsibility. / rAgumentum.al
