The General Secretary of the Democratic Party (DP), Gazment Bardhi told the media after leaving the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office on Saturdayy that he had explained in detail what happened in the violent protest on January 8. Bardhi stressed that no illegal items were found inside the DP headquarters.
“Our cooperation with the prosecution has continued from the first moment of the protest. Starting at the moment when the protesters attacked the DP, I had contacts with the police on what was happening at the DP headquarters. I ask for a full investigation of the case and bringing the perpetrators to justice. A handful of people led by Berisha attacked the DP,” he said.
According to him, the perpetrators have neither hidden nor have got pale. Berisha has taken responsibility for this violent act and some individuals involved, who have identified themselves.
Bardhi demanded that the perpetrators of the unprecedented act be brought to justice and stated that on January 8 he informed the prosecution that the police
was notified at 12 and 27 minutes on the contact number officially set by the police.
“I have called the senior officials of the state police more than 7 times. The response came after 40 minutes. I have given full explanations of the means that have been used and I have reconfirmed that the only circumstantial things found within the DP had been fire extinguishers. There was a list that the police and the prosecution compiled on the day of the event,” he said.
Bardhi stated that there had been no attack from inside the DP headquarters and prosecutors had witnessed that those inside the building had been subjected to physical control. / Argumentum.al
